A new year and a lot happening means a very busy January. We hit it early with a night with Classic Albums Live performing the Rolling Stones. While it is not the real Rolling Stones, they did a great job of taking us through about 2 hours of great music done very well. We then spent the next 3 weeks planning our summer trip to California & back, a couple of doctor appointments and helping out shuttling Kaylee & Tyler to the dentist. Then we spent a day at a Key Lime Pie Festival at Cape Canaveral...it was a beautiful day and it gets us out of the house.
The end of the month was more concerts. Arlo Guthrie came to town & did Alice's Restaurant, goes back to 1969 & Woodstock...lots of memories go through one's head while seeing & listening to that. The next night at the same venue was Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame with a band of his own...new music and new stories...fun night. A day later, we were off to Miami and the first of 4 cruises we have set up for the next 41 days...going to be a busy time.
This being our 5th The Rock Boat means a milestone for us...5 TRB, & 20 Sixthman cruises covering 82 days at sea with this cruise company. By the time we go on the 4th one, we will be at 103 days at sea, bouncing around the Caribbean listening to literally 100's of bands with 1000's of friends from all over the world...what an amazing time it has been. TRB was again led by Sister Hazel (their 20th cruise) and accompanied by nearly 30 other bands...5 days with 2 stops and LOTS of music. We also were awarded a 'Track Jacket' for our 5th TRB...the most expensive piece of clothing we, or anybody else we know, owns (insert big grin). These things are a blast. When we got off the boat, we spent the day visiting Key Biscayne State Park, and then drove north on A1A along Miami Beach and north to Hollywood, FL. It being Sunday, there was a lot of people & cars out & about, so it was slow going and good people watching weather. We then made our way to Melbourne, FL and stopped for a visit to the Maxwell King Center & a concert by Ana Popovic & her band. What an amazing performer she is, 2+ hours of great Blues & Jazz with some kick butt rock & roll thrown in, fun time.
We got home about midnight, been an amazing 9 days, heard more live music than most folks hear in a year, maybe more. Moving on to February, lots coming up...stay tuned.
