Our Road Trips: May 2017

We have been being lazy, going to concerts & music festivals, working around the house and doing our planning for the summer. We did a Classic Albums Live Prince show, saw Bob Dylan, went to the Turkey Rod Run car show at Daytona, stopped and spent an evening with friends listening to friends playing the Blues at a wine shop. Then it was the ICE! show with friends at Gaylord Palms near Disney and the Christmas & New Year holidays preceded by Thanksgiving with family.

January began with a music fest in St Petersburg, FL, a Classic Albums Live show & a 4 day cruise with Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea, for the 3rd time, in early February. My brother and his friend Lynne came to Florida and were here a few days and we had a nice visit. They went touring of some of Florida's sights and we did a concert & a 2 day Blues Fest in Clearwater, FL. There is so much to do in Florida in the Spring, you can't even begin to do it all. Feb 24, we flew to Seattle to see my sister & her family. Her husband Clint has been diagnosed with un-treatable Colon Cancer and was already in a Hospice facility when we arrived. We stayed 5 nights and did a lot of visiting...it was not a very pleasant reason for the trip but we are extremely glad we went. We flew back home March 1.

March was planning for the summer time, although we have made a lot of reservations already as the places opened up from their winter nap. We are planning to be on the road only 4 months this summer starting May 1. We have a lot of fun stuff planned and it will be a fun time if we get good weather. In between the planning, we managed to go to 5 concerts including a fun night with Stevie Nicks, the rock goddess of Fleetwood Mac fame. We also had a fun mini-reunion with 5 of the couples we met on our Alaska adventure in 2014, who have been wintering in Florida. Then it was Wanee Music Festival in Live Oak, FL...we have been pretty busy. We are basically ready to leave for the summer, which takes a bit of preparation and this year required some repairs to the motor home too. A new microwave & entry steps were both tough projects. We will spend the first 2 weeks of May at Gamble Rogers enjoying the early summer. Then it will be north to Minnesota and a swing through Canada and, of course, some music thrown in for good measure...stay tuned.
