6/6/14

We got an early start and started a drive north on US 95, passing through Eastport into Canada about 10 am.  The beautiful countryside starts as soon as you get north of Sandpoint, ID and never stops.  As soon as you clear customs, the road shifts over to next to the Canadian Rockies.  The road follows the Rockies all the way to Golden, BC, then turns west and crosses Canada's Glacier National Park & Mount Revelstoke National Park.  What a pretty ride!  We stopped at Cranbrook and made a visit to local visitor center, picked up a few brochures, then stopped in Radium Hot Springs too, just to look around a bit.  We will be back this way in about 12 days on our way to Banff, I think we stay in Radium Hot Springs for 2 nights.

We got to Revelstoke, BC, after our first bear sighting, and stopped for the night.  Went looking for some dinner, it is Friday night, and the place recommended to us had already closed the kitchen...guess folks in this part of the world must eat early, eh?  We ended up getting a pizza & a couple of drinks-$44.  Place is expensive!  We are heading back to the US today.
