Today was a laid back day, everyone needed it. We did have a meeting at 930 this morning regarding our ferry trip tomorrow to Skagway. Then we all went to the American Bald Eagle Association about a 1/2 mile away and learned all about Raptors in SE Alaska. It was pretty interesting & informative.
Then we came back to the camper and did a few things and then we drove about a 1/2 mile to the SE Alaska State Fair, which was starting today. Being Thursday, the crowd was very light. I did learn that there are like 5 locations for State Fairs in Alaska, this place is huge. There was little to see and all the rides were for little kids. But we did get a corn dog & listened to 3 guys try to play some rock & roll. This was not the Minnesota State Fair, not by a long ways.
We came back, sat around and talked, had another meeting and then went to dinner. Dinner locations are limited in Haines, AK, trust me. But 12 of us went to a place by the harbor and had a decent dinner. Then we drove out of town looking for bears...no luck. We did see 2 Bald eagles, so it wasn't a complete waste.
Tomorrow morning is moving day again. 2 weeks and this part of the trip will be done. But we still need to get all the way home from Washington, so we still are far from finished. Stay tuned.
