8/23/2014

Yesterday was moving day from Potlatch, WA to Nahalem Bay, Oregon.  I-5 is a busy road south from Olympia, WA, but not crazy like it is north of Olympia.  We were not able to see Mt Rainier from the road for the trees so we kept moving.  We did get off & stop at the Mt. St. Helens visitor center.  There was a nice group of displays & a movie about the 1980 eruption, but the drive to the observation area is another 45+ miles that is more than we wanted to try to tackle with the time we had yesterday.  We will try it another day with the car, as we will be in the area for about a week.

We continued on our way, getting off I-5 at Longview, WA, crossing the Columbia and then taking 47 SW. This was another adventurous ride that reminded us of some in British Columbia for both condition & design. About an hour later, we were ready for some straight roads and took 26 to the Pacific coast and then US 101 south to Nahalem Bay State Park, where we will be based for the next 5 days.  The park is on a spit between Nahalem Bay & the Pacific, gorgeous location.  We will post some pictures as we get them taken.

We arrived just before sunset, had some dinner of left over ribs, and got some sleep...it was another full day.

We are going to take a ride after breakfast and do some exploring...there is plenty to see along the Oregon/SW Washington coastline.  We will be checking it out,
