6/27/14

Moving day again.  Dawson Creek to Ft Nelson, BC, 284 miles.  This will be our first dealings with the Alaska Highway.  The scenery is amazing, and the road much better than we expected.  We pass through Fort St John and a couple of other small villages along the way.  There are several long climbs and also some long downgrades.  We take our time and all goes well with the brakes.  About ½ way, I can’t keep my eyes open for some reason, so we stopped & I took an hour nap.  I feel remarkably better afterward and we carry on.  As a result, we are the last ones to Ft Nelson, alive & rested.  The campground is very tight, as it is full because of the weekend & location, and we fit into the last spot…when I announce I took a nap, several folks comment that they will do that in the future…a trend starter again.  We passed 4134 feet and end up at 1383 feet, a very up & down day.  We ended the day with a group dinner of baked potatoes with chili, cheese, and all the fixings. Then it was the drivers meeting & socializing around a fire with Smores.  This is the first night of 4 in a row of traveling every day...hope we are ready.
