We both slept in this morning, felt good to sleep until 830. The gang has pitched in and are helping Duane fix his wounded camper. I walked down there and there was plenty of supervisors for the 5 guys working. So I came back and decided to check my air cleaner on the camper. I found it very dirty and will change it when we get to Fairbanks. We are hoping we can find one there.
At 1230, we had some lunch and then went to meet the other 6 folks going with us on the ATV ride. We load up on a bus and drive about 10 miles to a corner of Denali that allows ATV riding, an old coal mine area. During the indoctrination period, it is learned that one of the guides is the daughter of a Reedy Creek (Disney World) FD LT who is planning to move to Denali as soon as he retires. She knows where Christmas is and knows several mutual friends...it really is a small world. We load up on 3 ATVs and off we go into the wilderness...with lots of paths from other ATV explorers. But we had a ball, got all wet, got bounced around a lot and saw some cool sights. We were with another couple on a 4-seater with yours truly driving...there was a lot of laughing coming from the back seats.
We made a few stops & took some pictures and general had a great time. We then loaded up on the bus and made our way back to the campground. The guys were still framing on Duane's RV, getting it almost like new. Well, that is a stretch, but they did a pretty good job. We had a drivers meeting about tomorrow's trip to Fairbanks and then did some more relaxing. It has been another fun day in paradise.
