7/9/2014

What could beat yesterday's ride into Valdez?  Maybe a 9.5 hour boat tour of Prince William Sound? Well, that was on tap for today, so we were up early again.  We have a bus pick us up for the 8 block ride to the boat...I would probably been satisfied to walk and take in the scenery.  By 930 we are under way with may be the most beautiful body of water we have ever been on.  Sea Lions, otters, seals, waterfalls, porpoises, whales, lots of birds & several glaciers and fishing boats everywhere greeted us on a cloudy, foggy morning. But that just added to the scene...amazing!!  They fed us lunch and later a snack, and just kept cruising.  I marveled at how when the Exxon Valdez oiled down this place 20+ years ago, more people didn't go nuts, hard to imagine not having riots.  When we cruised by the oil terminal that filled that tanker, I tried to imagine how much oversight is in place since then...probably a serious amount.  No one wants to oil this place ever again...way too many lives are and will be affected if it ever were to happen again.  Let's hope not.

We head back to our camper knowing just what beauty there is here...we have run out of adjectives!!
