7/3/14

Travel day again,  this will be a doosey.  336 miles up the Klondike Highway during the summer road construction season.  We are off before 730 am and we are the 4th from last to leave.  2 of our fellow travelers are not with us.  One couple had to be towed in after their motor quit and the parts aren't here yet. Another couple is taking care of personal business and that is all we know.  So 22 campers are moving a long ways today, hope it all goes well.  We turn off the Alaskan Highway just outside of Whitehorse and will be on the Klondike Highway all day.  There is a lot of patches on the road, dips everywhere, slow going.

Our first stop is Braeburn Lodge, home of the $10 cinnamon bun...advertised to feed 4 people.  We go in & buy one...holy cow!  They will cover a dinner plate!  We move on, more road construction. We make a couple more stops, including seeing a 30# mosquito...fun day.  Took our time & arrived safely at 530 pm.

We got set up and went into town.  Found a pizza shop and ordered a pizza.  They will deliver it in 45 minutes, so we got some Loonies ($1 Canadian coins) and washed the car...can't see out the windows. About when we were done, the pizza showed up, so we ate our pizza & watched a video we got on our trip into Alaska in a couple days.  We went and sat & talked to the neighbors for a bit.  Then it was off to bed...sun was still shining at 1115 pm.  Endless summer.  Midnight sun.
