We are up early and at the designated meeting place for our fishing expedition by 6 am. We stood around and swatted mosquitoes and waited. About 620 we are told to report to the boat, so we walk about a 1/4 mile to the boat in the Homer boat marina. We get on and get a talking to by the captain and off we go.
There is weather moving in so we don't go as far as we expected, but we anchor and the mate starts baiting the hooks. 6 of us on this boat will require some shuffling, but we make it work. We fished for about 5 hours and get 9 Halibut between us and several junk fish, which got to swim for another day. The weather moved in as expected and it got pretty rough, so the fishing became a hassle...time to head in.
The mate cleaned the fish on our way back in and we are at the dock by 2 pm. Barb & Terry meet us & we put our stuff in the car. 3 couples go to lunch on the Spit and we have a nice time yakking. We decide to send some of the fish home and take it down to send it off...we are still without a decent refrigerator, so this works best. It was myself, Chance Eaton, Norm Ching, Chuck Mayo, Marc Loibl & Sue Vaughn on the boat. We all decide the Captain was awful & the mate did a good job...OK trip, not good, just OK.
Barb had done laundry, been shopping and the post office while we were out having fun...she is such a wonderful person. We went back to the camper and I changed clothes so we could wash my fishing clothes. We relaxed the rest of the evening...moving day again tomorrow.
