6/29/14

Laird River Hot Springs, BC to Watson Lake, YT, 130 miles today, pretty short run.  This is a pretty straight forward, simple drive.  We drive in & out of Yukon 8 times before finally entering for the last time.  Yukon is pristine wilderness…millions of trees, very pretty lakes & mountains, and very few bits of habitation.  It would not be a great place to have a break down.  I heard a story about someone who waited 18 hours for a wrecker…yikes.  But we made it OK.  As we are driving into town, 3 moose, a mom & 2 babies, ran right in front of us.  Barb was trying to take a picture, while I was trying not to hit them…pretty intense moment.  Barb got the picture and I didn’t hit anything, so all is well.  Right next to our camp ground is the world famous ‘sign forest’, 88,000 signs placed since 1942.  We placed one from our group and 3-4 couples did too.  We also walked through an interpretive center & watched a movie about the area and the Northern Lights Space & Science Center across the street.  The Wi-Fi was pretty awful, but we got some business taken care of.

Peggy is doing well and on her way to Michigan with her family, she needs that after all she has been through.  Our family made it home OK after a fun trip to Yellowstone and white water rafting in Colorado.
